Does anyone have any recommendations? Who are some of the best professors on campus and what courses do they teach?

Astronomy C10 with Prof. Alex Filippenko

IAS 115 with Prof. Ananya Roy

I liked Philosophy 6: Man, God, and Society in Western Civilization and Philosophy 7: Existentialism in Film and Literature both with Hubert Dreyfus.

I hear Dr. Filippenko is the best professor on campus. I saw him on the Science channel a couple of days ago too.

^^ definitely worth taking his class

I’ve heard from soooo many people that Drugs and the Brain is THE class to take.

I definetely plan to take Aston 10 with Fillippenko. Drugs and the Brain. What department and class is that exactly?

^^ MCB. its with Presti-he’s awesome I have him right now…

Soc 131ac with Professor Barlow

Any upper division psychology upper division classes. We have the BEST psych program (graduate) in the country and the classes are highly impacted (esp classes like Buddhist Psychology and Personality Psychology). GSI’S are phenomenal and highly intelligent. Even taking Psych 1/2 is life-altering to an extent. Taking the latter courses made me change my major to Psych.

Math 104 - Analysis

It changed the way I think. Made me a superior being.

CS61C. It made me hate programming.
Oh, that’s not what you meant by life changing
Math 55 is fun.

I agree with Phoobah…
Psych upperdiv’s are the best! I highly recommend Psych 117 (neuropsychology) if it’s taught this year… it’s very good mix for neuroscience and clinical neurology… Some other great courses: Psych 133 (clinical psych), Psych 133 (sleep), Psych 110 (biological psych), Psych 150 (personality)

I should note it might be difficult getting in upper div’s for non-psych majors…

i’ve heard good things about psych 133 with walker

*oops I meant to say Psych 130 (clinical psych)

Yes Psych 133 w/ Walker was a great course… it’s pretty easy, w/ interesting topics, and prof is great & very responsive to students.

Any god professor recommend for econ or mathematics?

I’ve had some good professors but none were godlike

there’s a world renowned 20 - something math savant at UCLA.

Starts with a T and ends with an erry Tao

Gotta take astroc10 with fillipenko. It really did change my life - met awesome people there :D.
