Honesto, Genre isn’t necessarily being unrealistic. If he’s really an entitled brat born into privilege, then he should have no problem using his family connections and money to get an entry-level finance job after college. Once he has that (and owing to his connections), he’ll be able to rise through the ranks and make millions of dollars by the time he;s in his early 30s. His inherited privilege, coupled with his moral bankruptcy, should make it relatively easy for him to retire by the time he’s 35. It’s true that for most people retiring by age 35 isn’t very unrealistic (or even desirable, since most motivated and intelligent people would prefer to use their talents to improve the world) but for someone like Genre, it’s very achievable.

As for adoption, I’m not sure it’s necessarily better than just making babies. Foreign adoption theoretically cuts down on the overpopulation problem by leading to less people being produced and relocating babies from areas of relatively high overpopulation (e.g. China) to those of relatively low overpopulation (the US). However, the idea of taking babies from poor families in poor countries and bringing them to rich countries might not be terribly fair. We may be exploiting those countries by separating those babies from their cultures and families. This article in the New Yorker touches on the issues surrounding international adoption: [Adopting a Haitian orphan after the earthquake : The New Yorker](The Last Babylift | The New Yorker)

Oh, I forgot to answer the original question of the thread. Personally, I’m not sure what I want to do with my life, but I think it would be nice to write for a magazine or newspaper (or even blog!) and comment on issues of culture, politics, entertainment, and so on. I think my writing is decent, I enjoy doing it, and I’d love to spread awareness and provide my opinions. I think that’s a suitably vague, aspirational, and humble answer. ;)

I would just rather adopt an american child. They go through so much abuse and I guess it’s just close to home.

Ahh. Love this thread. Haha

I want to:

Help get more of my fellow Hispanics into college! Either through a nonprofit or another means, not sure yet. But furthering our education is the key to breaking free of the barriers that hold us down, even though we’re the nation’s largest minority.

I hope to attend a top school. I’m not saying HYPS necessarily, but perhaps another one of my choices, like Rice or William & Mary. At that school, I’m going to become the best writer I can and hopefully write a book, no specific genre as of yet, that will spark some interest.

I want a wife and kids, haha I know, quite ordinary. Still though, having a family’s quite important to me.

I want to get out of here. Out of Louisiana and the school I go to. More than anything. Thank God I will be soon… college really needs to hurry up haha.

After my successful mathematics reign and business ideas, I’ll be a philanthropist. And actually be the person who speaks to people, not some damn rep.

My dream is to make everyone equal and make everyone in the world realize how we ruined the world with my passion for music and art.
Yes, it sounds crazy :)

“Yes, it sounds crazy” -> Sounds even crazier because of the wording of the previous sentence.

Stop corruption. And promote Peace in the world :)

I have to change myself before I change the world.

I want to change the world through music.

Great thread.

We all change the world one way or another. Some in noticable ways, some less so, but a person cannot live without sending out some ripple effects. I guess the question is, HOW do you want to change the world and how do you think you’ll get there? There have been some awesome (and funny) responses in here.

I don’t want to move mountains, but I want to be conscious every day of how I can be a better person and do my part to better my family, my community, and my world. Exploring the world through education is a big part of that!
