What are some tips for preparing for the SAT during the school year?

I need some help on managing my time with SAT prep, school, EC’s, my social life, AP exams, etc.

I’d like to know if anyone has any personal tips that helped them and if there’s any tips on the best way to cram, that’d be great too.

Get a tutor. My D could not find a class that fit her schedule. Kaplan has a relatively reasonable tutor option and we got a great one.

Do all the Khan Academy practice tests (set aside a block of time each week) and also get yourself some SAT flashcards (or make some yourself). You can save time by reviewing them in the car on your way to school/activities and also during lunch.

Reading your books in English, history, social sciences, biology during the school year is a natural and good way to improve vocabulary, critical reading, and writing skills. Read slow, read fast, read the whole chapter, read short paragraphs, read efficiently, and pay attention to the sentence structures. That gives you a lot of reading practice, more than just reading just a few paragraphs in the SAT prep books. You can apply the reading techniques in the SAT prep books to improve your daily school work reading.
