D is a jr, and beginning her college search. I'm curious as to what you feel are the best things going for Rutgers? From very high level looking, she'd probably be interested in either SAS or the Environmental Science schools.
I've heard the negatives, I'd like to know what you feel are the positives. Thanks!

Relatively inexpensive, good professors for the most part, very respectable school, tons of jobs available after graduating, fun environment, quick train ride from the city.

from what I've seen from looking at the school (I'm a senior), the professors are good and the kids (for the most part) do other stuff besides study all day. In the honors programs, there are tons of opportunities available to do research, interns, etc. Also, Rutgers has a very good reputation outside of NJ (even though many in-state students don't think so and view it as a safety)

The soup kitchen down the street from SEBS is very attractive..lol.The bottom line is,is that Rutgers is a great school, with great people and reasonably priced. You want to send little junior to Harvard or Yale..be my guest. But you better be prepared to mortgage the house.

Harvard's actually got fantastic financial aid! It's just that it's near impossible to get in. >< But Rutgers is a good school. Nice people. Not too far from NY if she ever wants to go on weekend trips to the city.

a bunch of my friends go there as well as my sister as for my sister she's in the honors program and its worked wonders for her she's graduating soon and she's been lined up for a bunch of top tier grad programs. the friends of mine who go enjoy all the campus and such and of course the football
