What are the best SATII prep books for US History and Chem?

I know many of you are going to say something like "go search it up" but I have very bad searching skills... so yeah advice for solid books would be great. Pleaseee?

Man.. I found some reccomendations for some SAT II books but then their are others who like a different prep book. But I'm not rich enough to afford to buy all of them at the current moment, so could someone just give me the book that they thought helped them out significantly for either of these subject tests?

Is there like a book, for these subjects, that is approved by the majority on this board? (Like the Blue Book for SAT I)

I swear by AMSCO for US History, as do many on this forum. It's an AP study book, not specifically for SAT II, but it's concise and you can get to the heart of an issue without having to wade through a bunch of stuff you don't need.

Thanks man.. I actually used that book for my soph AP USH class, but that year I went to China, after two months of the school year, so I didn't retain much information from that book.

So I actually did search through the site and other sites and am deciding between Barrons and Princeton Review.. it seems some prefer one and others prefer the other.. I just want some more opinions before I go to the bookstore tomorrow. Thanks.

I would say don't use AMSCO for SAT IIs. I mean, use AMSCO if you're doing the SATIIUSH and APUSH at the same time, but if you're just gonna do SATIIs, you know how thick AMSCO is. it IS essentially a textbook. half the stuff you're not gonna need to know. I can't offer book recommendations, b/c I took the SATII while doing AP at the same time, so I just used AMSCO since I needed to know everything and basically did anyway, but yeah.

I'm using McGraw-Hill for SATII Chemistry. this will be my second time taking it, I used Barron's the first time. So far I like McGraw-Hill better, Barron's gave me random information that I wasted my precious time memorizing and then DID NOT NEED. My friend used Princeton Review and said it was too easy for Chemistry.

Yeah, I'll go with the amsco because I am taking APUSH II right now. Also, on a positive note, my sister still has her amsco book from her AP USH class so I can just get hers instead of buying it online..

Oh yeah so is the Amsco good preparation for the AP as well?

You couldn't pay me enough money to take Chem, but for history...I have the PR book for U.S. and world history and it's perfect.
