i have barrons and amsco.

That's all you need.

Personal favorite the The Dummies Guide to the SAT II for US History

aite gotta study

AMSCO is great.

I read and highlighted every page of Barron's and wrote notes in every margin for the Nov SAT II. Got a 710. In retrospect, I learned a lot of really unnecessary stuff from that book that confounded my ability to remember the important details. I don't recommend Barron's SAT USH. It's practically a rebadged textbook, with no real regard to what is/isn't on the SAT II itself.

oh so the barrons overprepares you then... but thats better than underpreparing right? anyways history is my best and most favorite subject so i am hoping i can get atleast 750 on the sat ii history.

kaplan is good

I just wrote a huge review - check it out.

I second daman
SAT II USH for Dummies is the best one. I got Kaplan's AP USH and Dummies, but Dummies is more fun to read, and has very good tips for the SAT II

how good is kaplan compared to barrons?

i think kaplans is a lot easier i have the kaplan, the barrons and i think barrons has a lot of unneccessary info thats not tested. The practice test in barrons is a lot harder simply because its much too specific. I compared it to the sat 2 u.s. in the official sat 2 guide for all sat 2s and the kaplan seemed much more like the actual one

i have kaplan. i dont really like it. i used it for APUSH. i think i will buy amsco cuz that's the one everyone recommends! :)

How realistic are the practice tests in dummys?

I have the Barron's prep book and the REA book that I used for the AP exam.

how's REA for SAT II US?

^ that's what I used (REA AP and Barrons SAT II book), and I'm pretty sure I scored an 800...but I guess I"ll see on May 22nd...

Well, it looks like I probably won't cut it with PR. I'm gonna have to go all out for this, which means the most detailed review books possible.

I wish I could get AMSCO, but I don't want to be waiting for delivery. I'll stick with REA, the next best thing. I'll supplement that with my Barron's flashcards (won't be wasting my time with the excessive Barron review book, though).

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach the reading of REA? Are there any little things that I might want to skip? I heard the military rants are a bit excessive.

Also, what specific facts should I be underlining and emphasizing as I go along? Quotes? People? Authors? What does the SAT 2 U.S. History like to throw at us?

i second kaplan. its a bit like a textbook, but its not boring at all to me.

i have an old version of the PR US/World history combo. the practice tests had a ton of questions that the book didnt cover. i ended up learning more from the answer explanations than from the actual material. the book was the 2003-2004 edition i think, so i dont know how they are now.

REA is a really good review, but SAT II US seems to be more detailed...
I did a practice test from Barron's... and damn, it was hard.

good pretty dar good
