what are the chances/likelihood of getting off a waiting list for a class?

As I am registering to take dual-enrollment university classes, the university said I had to sign up after their students register for the classes. I did, however, the class I wanted to take was full and I was put on #1 of the waiting list. Is it likely I'll take the class in the fall?

Yea, usually the college drops some people if they don’t pay for classes. There’s usually people in your class that didn’t pay yet and they get dropped. Even if your college doesn’t have that, a bunch of people move their courses around in the first few days.

Yep, it also depends on the prof.

Even if you’re still on the waiting list, attend the class on the first day. If someone registered doesn’t show up, you might automatically be given their spot. You can also talk to the prof and see if they’ll let you into the class.

The first week usually has students moving and adjusting their classes to fit their schedule. You have a really good shot at getting the class.

I’m currently waitlisted in an upper level class myself, and I’m also first on the waitlist. Don’t worry about it too much.
