What are the chances that my instructor remembers me?

I'm taking a class with a instructor I had from the past. That was 1.5 years ago (6 academic quarters, including summers). She teaches every quarter and there are about 45 students in each class.

Depends on the person. I have this one English professor this semester that makes an effort to memorize the name of every student he teaches. He even goes to the extent of remembering little details about each one of us that we have mentioned throughout the semester. I’m pretty much positive he’ll remember all our names years down the road.

Why does it matter? Did you do something wrong in that class?

My guess is the original poster is probably looking for a recommendation.

Did you talk a lot in your previous class? Did you ever go to your prof’s office hours? If you sat in class and never said a word then she may remember your face but not much else.

There’s a better than even chance they’ll remember you, even if you weren’t a shining star. If you were a terrific student or big participator, they will definitely remember you. Likewise if you were a complete dud.
