That is if you're high school bf/gf will go to different schools.

Optimistically about the same as the chances you two make it through Thanksgiving break. So zero.

I’ve witnessed several couples stay together after HS going into college. But these couples are the types that look like they could get married some day. On average, those teenage relationships don’t really last.

90%+ no, but the exceptions have remained together after college.

If you’re talking about a specific couple then there is no way to tell. Relationships cannot be chanced like admissions.

Overall, I’d say probably 85% or so break up.

85-90% will break up

Probably 90% will break up. People don’t know what they want yet.

I’m still in a relationship though. Just had my fourth anniversary with my girlfriend this past August. So, it depends on what you both want, I guess. We have been living across the country from each other all this time, but I fly over there during the summer and winter breaks to spend my time with her.

We’ll be applying to the some of the same graduate schools as well as be engaged after we get our bachelors. So if we’re attending separate institutions, we’ll probably be apart for another 4-7 years. It is difficult, but if you love each other there is always a way to make it work. I’m going to be applying of course in certain locations that have the best programs for me and she will be applying to some of the same schools that happen to have a highly ranked program at the schools I want to go to as well. Maybe I’ll end up in Illinois and she’ll be in Kentucky or New York. It is not as bad as having to fly from California to Indiana for our undergraduate years, though.

From personal experience I do not know of a single friend that has lasted through college. I’m not saying it can’t be done but just from what I’ve seen.

Just as I thought.

And trust me: this question isn’t for me at all.

I’ve been a relationship for 3 and a half years. We started dating in high school and he is a year younger than I am. I graduated and went to college and the next year he chose to come to the same school as me. It is working out fine!

Even relationships that start IN college don’t usually last. If it’s all going to fall apart, it will. Long distance only makes it happen faster and/or more painfully.
