I would say everything Computer Information Systems and up is desirable </p>
<p>that doesn’t include medical and law (but those are graduate school)
doctors and other medical specialists and lawyers make very good money, and in the medical field people are in demand as well

<p>Sciences and engineering always tend to do the best financially, but please don’t pick a major just based on $. Pick something you’re interested in too!</p>
<p>Yes, do not pick something because of the money, especially something in the medical field. The last thing we need are doctors who don’t give a damn about their patients, and only see dollar signs. The same goes for law. We already have enough unethical people in that field, don’t need anymore. I for example am picking one of the hard sciences. I know I won’t get rich from it, but I truly want to help us progress forward as a nation and a species. Even if its a very minute advancement, every little bit matters.</p>

<p>Business and Astronomy are valuable ones too so I’ve heard, I plan on majoring in business as of right now.</p>
<p>The Sciences if you mean overall investment. Such as a biology undergrad leads to getting a doctorate and being a doctor, dentist, cariologist, etc. making very high salaries, between 180-325k. Then you think lawyers, who majored in PoliSci and History and such making between 100-200k. Straight out of undergrad your looking at Engineering and Business!</p>
<p>^Stop making yourself look dumb, career prospect for Science majors is awful… You can become a doctor or a lawyer with any major.</p>
<p>Yg, not all the sciences have a poor outlook. Geology has a good outlook, Applied physics to a certain extent has a good outlook, chemistry, depending on what field of it you decide to go in and where you live. Aviation, doctors may make that kind of money, but not after a long time. About 7 or 8 years of school, then another couple of years as a low pay/no pay resident. Then you have malpractice insurance you have to pay, which is extremely expensive. Also loans that can be in excess of 150,000. Not to mention med school is extremely competitive. Business, is a joke degree. If you want a good business job, you will go for Accounting, Finance, Economics. Also most lawyers don’t make anywhere near 100-200k a year. This is only if you’re with a major corporate law firm, which is also extremely cutthroat and competitive. And at this time, the law market is extremely oversaturated with freshly minted JD’s. Many are unable to find work and are stuck with massive amounts of debt they cannot pay. Mind, if you want a job, don’t go for a business degree. Everyone has those, and its only useful for toilet paper. As I mentioned, if you want a business job, Accounting, Finance, Economics, are much better. Even if you want to end up starting your own business, those three will teach you alot about running the business more than a Business Administartion or Management degree ever will.</p>

<p>I’m not hating on it, I am myself thinking about switching in and would like to know the pros of an econ major… </p>

It requires a lot of critical thinking and the ability to analyze data. Many concepts in economics, especially Microeconomics can be very very hard to understand. Employers love people who understand the economy and have the skills needed to succeed in those courses. Many programs are math intensive, you always need at least 2 courses in statistics of some kind and a huge majority of them require calculus since there is some applied calculus involved. </p>
<p>It consistently ranks as an in demand degree among employers and many econ majors can get a higher starting salary than business majors.</p>
<p>I’ll echo Scientificmind. Don’t just look at the salaries, also look at the demand. And realize that mathematical skills are the most versatile to sell.</p>
