Does anyone know what the rooms in south quad come with? If it helps, I'm going to be a shipman, so I'll be staying in Shipman Hall (a certain wing withing south quad). SHould I buy a fridge, microwave, mirror, etc.? Is there a sink in the room? Airconditioning? I didn't see anything on the umich housing website that was specific enough. Thanks!

All University of Michigan dorms come with…nothing.

You will need a mirror, a microwave, a refrigerator and anything else you want to have in the room other than a bed, dresser and desk and desk chair. My daughter worked it out with her roommate so that they didn’t overlap. A nice size area rug is good, we bought 2 6x8 rugs and they covered a good portion of the room. My daughter had a futon and a small table that fit nicely by the window. But it depends on how you set up the room. If you loft the bed over the desk and dresser then there is room for the futon. The rooms farthest from the bathroom seemed to have sinks, those closer did not. If you get a sink, it is good to bring some sort of shelf unit to put your stuff on. Congratulations on the Shipman, I hope you enjoy your time in Ann Arbor. Oh, and no air conditioning! Bring a fan.

If you’re lucky you’ll get a sink. Highly underrated

Yeah, pray for a sink. It’s a life saver.

thanks guys!

The Shipman rooms are on the 7th floor. They aren’t any different from any of the other rooms in the building. A fridge and a microwave would be good. Sink is unlikely, but there are a few rooms with sinks. You’ll have to get lucky for that.

No air conditioning - it’ll probably be hot the first few days, so bring a fan. Past that it’ll be cool enough so it won’t be an issue. Heating won’t be a problem.
