Just wondering what the top ten things to do at UCSB are

Party

Party

Party
etc…

jk hahaha. If I go there, I’d go to the beach almost everyday and learn how to surf.

Hahahaahahaha i know IV is a big part of it but like what else are the big things to do there besides just party at Isla Vista and the obvious hang at the beach

If you don’t like drinking and being a beach bum, you will have trouble finding things to do. Generally, it seems like anything remotely interesting night life or food wise will be in Goleta, but it’s still pretty limited. Um, you can go to the Santa Barbara mission and see where they murdered native Americans in the name of Christianity?

Hahaha so there’s nothing at UCSB that is social there besides getting completely wasted at IV or being a beach bum?

Surf… Only reason I’m going to UCSB. I want to continue to surf.

^Then you should’ve went to UCSD because surfing’s better out here :P

Actually, one of my peers in the lab I work in just moved down here from SB and he was saying how much more he enjoys the beaches down here. He was complaining about how dirty the water was in SB and how outside of aquatic/beach activities and partying there isn’t that much to do. I kind of agree with him on the first part, but on the second I think that any where you grew up or end up staying for awhile naturally gets boring.

Anyway, Black’s Beach just west of UCSD is supposed to be one of the best surf spots in CA, or so I’m told. Between there and Oceanside / Encinitas there are a decent number of great surfing options within 30 miles or so. I know Santa Cruz’ Steamer Lane and Rincon in Santa Barbara are also mentioned as two of the better surfing beaches in the state, but I think we have both of beat in terms of the number of great spots and just in terms of weather. To each his own though, Santa Barbara definitely isn’t a terrible place to be. I love it up there and almost ended up transferring there myself.

Yeah I’ve been to blacks, but the hike to get there is insane. Not worth it IMO.

The math department is phenomenal, though I’m not sure doing math is something you had in mind. On a lighter note, the restaurants in the area are pretty amazing (but in terms of quality and cost).
