Is U of I urbana still a good school if u don't want to go into engineering?

goBears: It's a tier 1 engineering school, and I'd say tier 2 for anything else.

In the Times Higher Education (THE) QS World University Rankings 2009, McGill was ranked the best public university in North America, and 18th in the world. .

I dont know if this helps, but here’s my two cents.

I don’t know why you guys are rating PSU so high. PSU engineering is below G-Tech and Illinois @ UC, and maybe equivalent to V-Tech. Also, G-tech>V-tech in engineering, hands down. I’m a junior in PA, and I’m not even applying to PSU. I would rather go to V-Tech or Purdue, to be honest. Also haven’t seen Texas mentioned a lot on here. And anyone looking at Batman32’s posts should realize that now in current day 2010, all the UC schools have lost quite a bit of luster due to severe budget cuts and the new policy in 2011 that will utilize a “different” admissions policy. (aka, they’re trying to get more white people in UC schools that are around 50% asian). UC Davis and UCSD, current day, should not be on the list of top publics. Thier funding has been CUT, and will likely continue to drop. UCLA is still renowned, and UC Berkely is still in the top 3 in any list.
