I’m in. Vegas, I sent you my contact info through a PM. I’m excited!

Im down for this, honestly vegas that was the best idea since electricity

vegas, im in GWU now, trying to transfer now lol, so dont feel regretful u didnt apply here…

we are like in the same situation, except i applied to 11 lol

hey guys. I’m totally down for the transfer book idea. Vegas, I’ll PM you my info right now. I also think we should include a chapter (or maybe an appendix?) on different (especially transfer-friendly) schools, cause I know when I was first applying to transfer I was really confused about WHERE to go, and all the books they have that list school stats and so forth basically say nothing about transferring. Also, I feel like a lot of transfer kids just apply to “high-ranking” schools (b/c they just want to get the hell out of their current school) without really looking into which schools have good programs/which schools are transfer-friendly and so on. Also, my aunt used to work in admissions at Cornell so I can hit her up for the down-low on transferring…

also, for those who are in on the transfer book–if you guys have facebook, we could make a group and discuss ideas/plans there, cause this is all public, AKA anyone could steal our brilliant idea! ha. what do you guys think?

meh, i kind of deleted (well deactivated) my FB for now. 'twas too distracting. we could find another way to discuss it. can’t we form some sort of a group on CC? i don’t know how to go bout it though. Anybody?

^ Create a Google Group instead?

^ do you know how to make one? is it easy? lol i’ll try and create one…

Hey guys, thanks for sending your info. I will make a list today and send it to each of you for ease of contacting each other. ( : For now, I have class / :

I am definitely up for this idea as well!! Just thinking about how helpful a book like this would have been for me is enough. It’s such a LONELY process, because you’re doing everything by yourself, alienated from the help of your school, the usual aid given to hs students, and sometimes even the support of your friends because you’re making the decision to leave them. We should have a chapter on how to deal with the loneliness haha, you need to remind yourself you’re doing this for the better and it will all be worth it.

I’ll pm Vegas my deets. =]

totally. i really took for granted all the stuff my school did for me as a hs senior. it’s so hard and discouraging trying to pull all of this together yourself, and that’s why if you don’t get into a school you really want, it hurts even more because you had to do everything yourself this time, and it still wasn’t enough.

and i don’t know if it’s me, but are more people getting accepted for class of 2014? b/c all my friends in hs are getting into top 10s with like 87-90 avgs. >.< and like my whole hs class is transferring out of nyu and cmu and trying to get into a top 10/15 lols.

Ok everyone, I am putting together the contact list as I type. ( ; From this point, lets communicate ideas via email so noone takes our ingenious assortment of ideas! haha
Im sending everyone a list of the interested contributers!

Oh and Melonbread, I heard that due to the financial crisis. Many schools are offering admissions to students who come from more affluent families rather than one’s who may be more academically apt, however, are not financially blessed. So, I suppose if a kid is applying to a Uni that isn’t need-blind and their parents are wealthy, then they have a better chance, even if their grades are less than perfect. ( :

^ Vegas, I think that would be bad news for a lot of us :-(. oh well. Melonbread, “all your friends in hs” are going to top 10 colleges?? Did you go to Stuyvesant or something? Do you mind me asking where you went to hs?! There were like 2 kids in my grade that went to ivys besides Cornell

^ i don’t want to say…brings back sad memories. Whenever people ask me what HS I went to, it ends up being a 2 part question:

1) What HS did you go to?
Me: Response
2) Orly? Then which HYP do you attend?
Me: :‘( :’(:'(…dies of shame

But yes I went to a very well-known HS that’s the largest feeder to most top 15 national unis/LACs. When I think of the people this year going to MIT with around a 91-92, i don’t feel so good…:'(

melonbread, I feel your pain. But mine applies locally. Everyone is expected to get into the local unis which are very competitive and cut-throat (not as much as HYP I’m sure, but expectations are high). I didn’t choose to go because I really intend to pursue a liberal arts education, and the folks here just don’t get that. It’s more of a - if you graduate from so and so high school, you SHOULD be doing Law or Meds - ridic.

[The Transfer Book ? Transfer to the college of your choice](http://thetransferbook.com/)

^ a collaboration of like 10 kids who met on CC and have essays that we are willing to share should be a lot stronger than this in my opinion. And liek previously said, why not have more than a few transfer books >.>
