What are you supposed to dissect in AP Bio?
I'm to mad to say what my teacher had on the board during open house.
I really thought we were dissecting a cat?

mink .

i never dissected anything in AP Bio.
i did dissect many animals in Honors Bio.
i will dissect a cat in Anatomy this year. it will smell very nasty and i will smell like dead cat + a chemical product from 3 hour onwards.
AP Bio labs are more observational, or the ones from college board are …

I actually didn’t dissect anything in AP Bio. In a Zoo class I did a shark, a squid, a pig, a lamb brain, frog, and various worms, etc. It was a little trouble for me at first, ethically as I am a strict vegetarian but I learned a ton from it.

Last year the AP Bio class dissected a cat, because they chose to. They had a choice between reviewing for the AP exam and dissecting. I thought the choice was pretty strange, but…

Hopefully this year, the class will make a different choice. I’m in the class this year, and I don’t fancy the idea of dissecting anything more than a flower.

We dissected a cat after the exam lol. I remember we named ours Beatrice heh.

Needless to say, you’ll get used to the perservatives.

I’m taking AP Bio this year, and I heard that we may be dissecting fetal pigs…

We’re disecting squids by the way.

I didn’t get to dissect anything in my AP Bio class. :(

@MetalMeatWad: OWNED! We’re disecting a giant squid.

But yea, I don’t think dissections are as common in AP as Honors… probably takes a lot more effort to keep those honors kids interested in Bio, as opposed to the kids who chose AP because they love it.

Has anybody ever had to dissect something on anesthesia? I remember in the movie ET, the kids were in science class and they had a frog in a jar with a chloroform cotton ball to knock it out, but in this day and age I think they only use prekilled, right?

I remember we dissected a rat or vole or…I don’t remember. It was something putrid. And a starfish.

We did a baby pig…

They do not offer this class in my school =/ Sometimes I feel cheated LOL

We didn’t dissect much unfortunately…just a fetal pig, which was kind of cute. The smell of formaldehyde was intriguing.

I’ve dissected a pregnant frog and cow eye in 7th grade. Haven’t dissected anything since.

and lmao at the tag.

I really wanted to cut open a cat…
In 9th in honors I went pretty “Hostel” on it. Skinned it’s head, cut off it’s snout and tail, cut open the body over, took out it’s eyeballs, and then I tried cutting off the head which I did, but freaking strings were attached to it. Yeah I’m pretty sick, but I wanted to examine every part of it. LOL.

just the thought of dissecting something creeps me out. we’re apparently going to dissect frogs and lamb brains in the near future, and this is regular bio x_X

We dissected fetal pigs in bio freshman year, but I don’t know what we’re going to dissect this year in AP Bio.

My AP Bio class was pretty intense. We started with small things, like frogs, squids, worms, sheep hearts and fetal pigs and by the end of the year we skinned and dissected rabbits and cats.

Nothing. It sucked.

I shouldn’t complain though, budget crises and all
