What are you thankful for this school year?

I am thankful that I can’t see my daughter’s dorm room. I know it’s a mess. I am also thankful that I am her mom and not her roommate.
My d is a sophmore transfer. Last year she was close and I saw her room a few times.
I about died. This year she is 6 hours away. I miss her but I can’t stand seeing her live like that. Last year I visited and cleaned her room. No more.

Thankful this year because:

Oldest son (May 2008 college grad) got a job with ramped-up salary scale with the federal government.

Middle son is attending a Top 15 LAC with a full-ride merit scholarship

I do not have the PTA position I had last year in youngest son’s PTA! (I do not have any position, other than member, this year!)

I’m thankful for chorus! D joined and is just so happy and involved-- her school has a great music dept. but she doesn’t play an instrument so she was missing out. Now she’s there, and in contrast to the cutthroat competitiveness in some other departments, she’s with a welcoming and very serious group of singers, and I can see a difference already. Last year (freshman) she struggled in many ways-- this year she feels she belongs, loves her teachers and her (few, but wonderful) friends, is much more confident enjoying the whole experience. Hallelujah! (chorus!)
