What big-city schools provide free transportation?

What big-city (Boston, D.C., L.A., New York, whatever) schools either provide free transportation (through shuttles) or transportation passes for their students to use local mass-transit?

I'm not planning on taking a car to college, and so I'm trying to figure in the cost of transportation.

I know DePaul University in Chicago has a "U-Pass" for people using CTA trains and buses. Other schools in Chicago might as well.

I knew about DePaul, but that's exactly the type of pass I'm looking for.

Anyone know any schools, particularly in D.C. and Boston?

rice? not sure

At WUSTL your student ID gets you free use of the metro (train) and city buses. There is a metro station on campus and it is easy to take it directly to the airport or the galleria.

Found out that Loyola Chicago provides a UPass included in tuition.

I know that Fordham has the RamVan....I'm not sure exactly how it works though.

As for D.C., I know that at GWU you're in walking distance of almost everything.

Boston- Brandeis has free busing I think

UCSD - bus line has a thirty mile radius. Yay for teenagers without cars!

Berkeley is great for public transportation. I never had a car while I was at school.

UC offers a discount pass for the AC Transit busses - $30/month for unlimited rides. However, if you live on or near-campus you can walk or bike to a lot of locations. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit subway system) will get you to the airport, Oakland and San Francisco...the Berkeley BART station is on the west end of campus.

I've also heard the University of Colorado at Boulder provides free transportation to Denver, can anyone confirm this?

uw provides cheap transportation around seattle if i remember correctly..

UPitt students can ride any public transportation for free using their Panther Card, including the scenic inclines and the bus to the airport.

Yes ... Rice provides free transportation on the bus system and light rail to students, not to mention free access to the zoo!

Boston doesnt. That's for sure.

I think that Pitt does.

If I'm not mistaken, Carnegie Mellon has a similar deal as UPitt.

Trinity College has a U-Pass system as well. It is issued every semester, and is good on CT Transit buses. We also have a shuttle that takes us anywhere within a 15-block radius of campus. There is also a bus that takes students to downtown Hartford every Thursday night. Campus Safety is also always willing to transport students around campus.

Recently the student government proposed the implementation of ZipCars on campus, so that is in the works as well.

Actually Berkeley's tuition includes free AC transit. Not that the OP was looking at the West coast, I was just responding to UCBChemEGrad.
