So i want to work in the economics/finance fields. I have founded many small companies(mainly internet companies) so i decided that i should probably go to college for something in the business field. Im also very into stocks, commodities, futures all of that stuff, long story short i love money and my dream job is somewhere on wall street. Sadly i don’t have the grades to get into an ivy league school so my goal is so to go to a fairly good business school and keep working my way up. I have a 1500 SAT, 21 ACT, 2.97 GPA( I royally screwed up my sophomore and half of my junior year due to personal issues) but by the end of this year ill most likely have a 3.1 gpa. Ive applied too:
University of New Haven: Accepted
Iona College: Accepted
College of ST. Rose: Accepted
Siena College: Deferred but during a meeting my advisor said there was a good chance i’d be admitted
Quinnipiac University: still waiting
Rider University: still waiting
Roger Williams University: still waiting
University of Hartford: still waiting
University of Scranton: Denied(I was pretty upset about this one considering it was my top school)
Hofstra University: still waiting
William Paterson University: I sent my application and transcript but after further research i decided not to finish applying
Any input is appreciated! Are my selections good or are there more schools i should apply too?
You should have tried Baruch, Pace, and Hofstra as reaches.
Do you attend a lower-performing school? What’s your current math class and what grade are you getting?
I came across this international business school called Hult some time ago. They had undergrad campuses in San Francisco and London and weren’t very score-oriented in admissions.
Jojo, i got accepted into rider and hartfordboth with scholarships around $20k a year, quinnipiac waitlisted me, Im still waiting on hofstra but I’m near positive i didn’t get in and roger williams accepted me also.
Wall street is consist of thousands of companies, there are top tier investment bankers, there are large banks, small equity firms, large brokerage firms and small boutique brokerage firms, there are insurance or re-insurance companies, there are manufacturing companies, utility companies, property managers…there are hotels, there are large and small restaurants… And yet there are government agencies. it covers a wide spectrum of all sorts of businesses and entities.
To say a student cannot be hired on Wall Street is absurd. As I wrote before, one kid I know well is hired by Google, started the job a month ago, he is a graduate from Elizabathtown College, a virtually unknown school on CC.
