i think you have an excellent chance at UCSC, but UCD might be a very slight reach for you.

As for the other schools I think you have a great chance at any of those private schools.

Also look into Santa Clara University, Saint Mary's College of California, Loyola Marymount, Pitzer, and Occidental.

oThINKoPinKO:

UCD: Slight Reach
UCSC: Match

How can I improve my chances for getting into UCD?

You could retake the SAT and attempt to pick up your math score. The median math score for UCD was about 560 last year.

However, with your current stats, and if you do well on your SAT II's, I think you have an above average chance of being accepted.

Sounds like a match for UCD / UCI / UCSB and a good chance at UCSC / UCR / UCM. UCSD...a bit of a reach but possible.

What can you do? Not much. Try to write good essays. At this point you really can't do too much more.

your likely in all the UC's but Berkeley/UCLA/UCSD. Your stats are too low for the top 3 UC's. UC Davis looks to be a match for you. UCSC is a safe match. Your in all the privates and CSU's you listed.

UC Berkeley: Large Reach
UCLA: Large Reach

UCSD: Reach-Large Reach

UC Davis/UCI/UCSB: Match-Slight Reach

UCSC: Safe Match

Sacramento State: Safety
San Jose State: Safety
UOP: Safety
University of San Francisco: Safety

I would also recomend looking at USD and Pepperdine which are private schools in southern california not quite as competitive as the top-tier and mid-tier UC's. You should be a Safe Match for both of these schools.

UCD--Slight Reach
UCSC--Match
Sacramento State--Safe Match
San Jose State--Match
UOP--Match
University of San Francisco--Match
Santa Clara University--Slight Reach
Saint Mary's College of California--Match
Loyola Marymount--Match
Pitzer--Match to Slight Reach
Occidental--Slight Reach

As far as getting into UCD, their average UC GPA (which is a weighted GPA where they cap the honors at 8 semester units) was 3.84 last year, with an average SAT score of 1824. UCSC was a UC GPA of 3.67 with a SAT of 1759.

They do add points for the following categories, however--so you can possibly get into UC Davis if any of these apply to you:

From a Low Income area
Faced a serious hardship or difficulty that was overcome
Have a distinctive skill or ability (for example, played piano at Carnegie Hall or can do Math Calculus problems in your head--got a 210 to 220 on the AIME/AMC)
First generation college student

All of this stuff counts for 19% of your total points, then they also consider your extracurricular record (11% of the total score). GPA is around 41% of the total, and SAT scores are around 29%. The number of points you get for the five SAT scores (three SAT Is and two SAT IIs) can be computed by going to this link: <a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html</a> The number of points you get for the GPA is just your UC GPA times 1000. So for you it is 3.75 times 1000 or around 3750.

Lastly, if you can increase your SATs Is (combined) by 100 points you are a match for UC Davis.

That's it, so good luck.

Does anyone here know of a approximate cutoff total points for UC admissions ? I am referring to the url posted <a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...ship_reqs.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...ship_reqs.html</a></p>

thanks

I just got my SAT II scores and im a little dissapointed...I got 510 on the US History and 580 on the Literature, does this hurt my chances?
