What Can I Do as a Student Waitlisted?

Hi, I was recently waitlisted at CMU (Mellon College of Science) and put my name on the priority wait list. I was wondering what I can do to help me get off the waitlist and accepted. I will send in the update form and I am visiting in mid-April, but what else will help? Should I get another LoR or have my guidance counselor make a call? Should I send in my third quarter grades (they are improved from my first semester grades)? Or should I do nothing but visit and send my update form? What will help? Thanks!

Actually, an edit, 2 of my grades went up (History C–>B, Physics B–>A), but my French grade possibly dropped to a C from a B. Will that hurt a lot?

I am still waiting to hear from CMU but I already have a bunch of waitlists…

My suggestion is to first look up stats from previous years… some school like Berkeley or Penn State take the majority of their waitlist students, while others, like Harvard, take few. If you have a good shot write to them, update credentials and argue strongly that you will definitely enroll ( It’s not binding like ED but still do it like an ED otherwise it might hurt you ethos).

Best of luck.
