I understand that it is possible to get into medical school with almost any major, but which major would be most helpful and beneficial for medical school? For your convenience, I've listed all the undergraduate majors that Columbia SEAS offers. Thank you:
* Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics
* Biomedical Engineering
* Chemical Engineering
* Civil Engineering
* Computer Science
* Earth and Environmental Engineering
* Electrical Engineering
* Industrial Engineering and Operations Research
* Mechanical Engineering

the major that would be the most beneficial is the one that gives you the classes that you need to pass the MCAT’s. i’m almost sure that you can do any major you want and do a concentration in pre-med, which would give you the courses you need to learn the material that is on the MCAT’s.

or, you know, you could just go to their post-baccalaureate premed program.

Med school usually just look at MCAT and GPA, and engineering has one of the lowest GPAs out of any major cuz the classes are curved to B-.
So i would say that if you really wanted to do engineering, choose the one that would, hopefully, keep your GPA as high as possible.

But its totally possible to do pre-med and engineering

And this is probably EMS/IEOR.
