What Career Possibilities are available for an Economics Major? After taking an econ course last year, I am fascinated. I am good with money, and the subject of economics really intersests me. I am wondering what career possibillities are available with an Economics Degree.

Everything from investment banker to economist.

there are a lot....a few that i can think of off the top of my head are: stockbroker, investment banker, financial advisor, and many many more...basicaly anything that involves the use of or management of money could be open to you

Bls.gov is a great site

and actually.... I read somewhere way back when (and can't confirm if its still true)... but students who get an undergrad degree in econ are actually the top performers in law school and are one of the largest group of students entering law school.

Oh, any after talking to many econ profs; if you really want to do economics (work at the fed, research, become the next freidman, etc) then the best thing to do undergrad is to get a math major. The upper level math courses are a real advantage when going for a grad degree or a PhD in Econ. But an undergrad Econ degree is extremely useful in many ways and in virtually every field.

And as for me I'm an Econ and EnviSci major -- I want to work mainly for large scale mining corps and drilling outfits with the cost analysis of their operations. Or I'll go to law school... who knows.
