Hello, I am an incoming McCombs freshman and I recently just found out I have AP credit to get me out of my M408K class (Thankfully I didn't take my ALEKS yet, now I don't have to). I am currently enrolled in a SOC 302, UGS 302, and ECO 304K. So that means I have a total of 13 hours with the M408K class. I was wondering what you guys suggest as the class I should replace it with? Is there an advantage to keeping my hours to 13 even though I am claiming 4 credit hours because I'm looking at my options and there aren't many other required classes I need to take that give me 4 hours. I just don't want to slack to 12 hours if it's going to majorly hinder me in the end.

Why aren’t you taking the next calculus class (M408L or D)? I thought you need the full first-year calculus sequence for McCombs…

I can take it but would that be my best option? I thought freshman usually take it their second semester, even if I still tested out of M408K.

Well, I’m an engineering student, so I don’t really know what goes on with business students. But at least for us, everyone finishes calculus by the end of freshman year (and many of us finish differential equations by that time as well).

Either way, if you’re planning to take the three-semester sequence (K,L,M), you should definitely get started on that. You still have two more classes to go, and it doesn’t look good for anyone to take calculus in your sophomore year.
