What Classes did you/ are you taking sophomore year?

You guys are all INSANE.

I have a fairly rigorous schedule at my Canadian prep school, but AP’s are reserved for seniors (AP Bio can be taken as a junior), and we only have…6? We take all of our classes the whole year (no semesters), and ECs are huge as well.

Anywho, keeping in mind that I go to a restrictive prep school and this is all I could take:

World History to 1600 (taken a year early)
Japanese Level 2 (also taken a year early)
English (too easy, so I’ve slacked off quite a bit…it hasn’t been pretty :P)
Principles of Mathematics II (same as Algebra II, I think…?)
Science (we do chemistry, biology, thermodynamics, optics…pretty basic)
Canadian Geography (required -_-)
Communications Technology (taken so I could go to LA in the fall, and for a break)
Civics (online required course)
Computer Science

I must look like a joke compared to you geniuses, but I digress.

wow, my school only let us take ap world, and even then it was restricted to only a few sophomores… we don’t really get options until junior year, but anyways!

h algebra II
h english 10
h french III
h US history I
h biology
art foundations (required)
gym/health

Last year I was a sophomore

I took
Trig/Discrete Math Honors
English Honors
Chem 1
Anatomy & Physiology
American History
Spanish 2

when I was a sophomore I took:
Honors Chemistry
Spanish 2
Honors English
Honors Alg 2/Trig
Varsity Tennis
Modern Civilizations (history)
Theater

I made my junior/senior courses 100% AP and got a 34 on the ACT. I got into UCLA/Vanderbilt ect. with that, so your schedule is more than enough!

We have to take 8 classes, and we’re a smallish IB school so my schedule was pretty different from y’all’s!

IB Math 1
Pre-Diploma Biology
Global Experience - History (GT class)
Global Experience - English (GT class)
Art 2 Ceramics
Digital and Interactive Media
PE (1 semester)/Psychology (1 semester)
French 2

taking the following

Global Literature and Composition II
AP French
Chinese II
AP World History
AP Psychology
Chemistry
Math Analysis
International Business and Trade (semester)
Global Cultures (semester)

online:
PE
Trigonometry

I’m currently a sophomore and I’m taking

AP Chem
AP World History
English II Honors
Theology *req (Catholic school - transferring at the end of this year)
French II
Alg. II Honors

Ahh, so jealous of all of you who don’t have to take PE :frowning:
I’ll be taking -
English 10
Precalc Math 11
Social Studies 10
French 10
Science 10
PE 10
Planning 10
Law 12

lol I feel like the only canadian on here, for grade 10 we only have 2 electives available (law and french for me) and the rest are required classes.

No APs at my school, not for sophs.

Honors Geometry, World History 10, Orchestra, Spanish IV, Western Literature, Honors bio, Phy ed, and a smattering of arts electives.

I’m a 10th grader this year.

Honors English 10
Honors History 10
Algebra II
Chemistry
French 3A
Spanish 1
Music Technology
Phys Ed

10th graders can’t take APs at my school.

Are 10th graders allowed to take as many APs as they want at most schools?

Im currently taking

AP World History
Pre-AP English 2
Geometry
Chemistry
Electronic Music
AP Comparative Government(Love this class!)
AP Art History

I will be taking:
AP US History
AP French 4
AP Chemistry
Algebra 2 BC (weighted as AP, no AP exam however)
Honors American Literature

I’m so jealous you guys got to take APs as sophomores, we had to wait until junior year (and even then, we could only do 1 or 2)

@UniquelyMe30: Most schools only allow sophomores to take AP World History or AP European History. But CC has a lot of people who go to really good high schools, so it looks like most schools would allow you to.

AP Euro, AP Calc, AP Stat, AP Comp Sci, AP Psych, Adv. English (Honors), Spanish 3, Spanish 4

Well, as long as you take the most advanced courses you can, that’s all anyone expects on your transcript. I got into a couple of top 10-15 colleges, and we a. aren’t allowed to start calc until senior year, and b. only have 4 AP courses at school (2 math, 2 for-lang). So take that as you will.

I took:
Chemistry Honors (AP Chem isn’t allowed until after you take honors.)
Algebra 2 Honors
AP US History
AP World History
Pre-AP English (They didn’t let us take AP Lang until junior year)
Law
Spanish 4 Honors

My Sophomore year I took

Honors English (Which was actually quite a bit harder than AP English Comp which I took this year)
Honors Bio
Trig
French II
World History

My school doesn’t offer AP classes for sophomores, so this is about as rigorous as it gets. Most sophomores are in Algebra I or Geometry, which is 2 to 3 years behind Trig. It doesn’t look like much but for my school it is :)

Ah, Sophomore Year, that was a long time ago. Here’s what I took, certainly no APs.

Seminar English 2 (Seminar is AP Prep, it’s considered a step above honors although it’s weighted the same)
Seminar Civics/Economics
Honors Biology
P.E. 2/Health (required, semester each)
Spanish 2
Theatre 1 (only non-freshman in it, I had just discovered my love of theatre in April of Freshman year)
Geometry

That was before we switched to the 4-period block schedule, so we had 7 classes all year and as a Freshman and Sophomore you only get one elective (or 2, if you aren’t on the ‘college prep’ course and have to take a foreign language, or if you took a foreign language in middle school and were able to test out of the first year of it), which kind of sucks now that I think about it.
