Hi! :) I want to be top of my class and all, I also might apply for a prestigious math and science boarding school that only takes about 13% of applicants. Most sophomores at my school do not take AP classes, but I, well I have this thing about being the best possible. And I HAVE to get into this school! Please worn me if I am pushing myself too far. I have this so far:

First Semester:
-Algebra II honors
-Chemistry honors
-Biology AP
-Psychology AP

Second Semester:
-Biology AP
-Environmental Science AP
-English II honors
- ????

For that class I could take Pre calculus honors (math is my worst subject...), Anatomy and Physiology honors (I want to be an oncologist) or AP statistics (again, my worst subject). Since it is the school of MATH and SCIENCE I need to show expertise in these subjects. Everyone I know that is applying is taking AP stats and Pre calc (but I chose to go the science way) .
Insight?

Yeah you have no idea. At my school, students aren’t allowed to take AP’s until they are juniors. Even then we only offer 3, AP Bio, AP US History and AP English Language. Your school is very well off if you are taking all of those AP courses.

I also live in NC, we sent someone to NCSSM two years ago, here’s the classes he took;

Honors Bio
Honors Alg 2
Chemistry
Honors English 2
Honors US History
Honors Anatomy and Physiology
Spanish 3

He got in taking these classes. It is very easy for our students to get in due to the fact our course offering is terrible. Also your classes aren’t everything, you will need a excess of volunteer hours and belong to science clubs to demonstrate your love for the subject.

Okay, so AP Psych and AP ES are both really easy APs, but you should really take honors pre-calc. It’s a super important class and for my school, is a prerequisite for a lot of the honors/AP courses. Good job on AP Bio, but overall it’s not that hard of a schedule.
