By the way, college food in the US is way better than what I had in Japan.

Ugh...miso soup and rice every day. Blech.

Nah, UCLAri will have it better. The PS/IR depts are in Marshall. It's a short walk from Cafe Ventanas. Try the fine dining on Wednesdays.

Pssh.. at least that's some good and authentic stuff.

Ventanas actually has pretty good food compared to the rest of the campus. Agreed especially on wed.

:)

at least donburi and ramen?

why don't you lovebirds get a chat room?

I love Japanese food.

futebolista,

IR/PS is a separate school, and is actually by the Supercomputer center... or is that the same place?

it's the same place. warren, irps off to the side a bit and erc right above it. and sdsc and rimac right across.

God, Japanese food is so not great when you have it every day. I can eat only so many bowls of plain rice.

http://irps.ucsd.edu/about/UCSDMap1.php

blue is IR/PS...Supercomputer Ctr. is southeast adjacent.

Looking at it right now, actually.

Not that it matters to me. I don't know UCSD at all.

Well, if you ever need a really good map that gives walking directions and times, use this one: http://campusmap.michaelkelly.org/map.cgi

:)

It's far from the uni. center, but International House is nearby. I always visit the foreign language convo. tables. Another plus is RIMAC...great athletic facilities there.

Every day is a foreign language conversation table for me!

Perhaps places like Princeton, Penn and Yale aren't known for their food because they don't have to be. They know people will apply and come even if they serve slop. (Not that I know they do or anything :) )

In the recent Washington Post article about college food (a link was previously provided), it seemed like the colleges who made an effort to have great food did so for a reason. Top-ranked Bowdoin (in Maine) thought that the weather was so lousy they had to give students something to make them happier. Virginia Tech wanted something to help them recruit students.

Penn's food is total garbage.

UPenn or PennState?

Hmm.. plain rice? I've never heard of that before. There's always yummy dishes on the side? No?

Bentou would be soooo satisfying. That's better than the fake/cheap sushi at Hedrick and the really hard bread at BruinCafe.. or just about any place except for the occassions when something good is served.

nihon ryouri ga daisuki da yo! hoshii! demo takaii..

So therefore, I wouldn't mind having it everyday if it was authentic/delicious/not cheap ripoff.

But the everyday is a conversation table thing is no good. I need an intensive refresher and maybe a little more new instruction to pass this foreign language placement exam!

Gah! People speaking in otaku...
