my gpa is 2.8 but I think i can raise it to a 3.0 by my 1st semester (senior) and my sat score from 1500 to atleast 1700. I want to go to a cheap college where I can get my G.E and has alot of people (no commuter) and I intend to only get a bachelor's for now as I want to become an athlete. I was planning to go to other schools but nearly all colleges in California dropped wrestling programs. I haven't started on my application yet so can i please get some help, perhaps some links and a description of what the school is known for? thanks

What’s your major? Or does the major matter?

CSU Bakersfield has a wrestling program (a championship one, I believe), and it’s one of the easier admits. It isn’t particularly known for any academic program but maybe that’s ok: you’ll get your degree there. There are only three dorms though: it’s a very commuter school. Rent off-campus is cheap.

yeah that’s the problem. it’s pretty far away too and only had 8,000 enrolled since 2011 which is VERY little. One of my top reasons that I’m even considering college is to socialize because there aren’t many people that I like at my school

What about Cal State Channel Islands? Very NON-commuter. Smallish, but I know a lot of students there and they really like it a lot.

My son is at Fresno State. Great school, many social possibilities, particularly if you live on campus the first year. He’s made a lot of friends.Fresno, of course, is not a great area. But he loves the school.

You could apply to Long Beach, Fullerton, CSUCI, and Fresno, and see where you get in. Also maybe SDSU.

is channel islands really non-commuter? it says there are 4,000 enrolled since 2011

There are commuters, but a number of students live on campus too. I live in that general area and know many, many students there. They all are very happy there. It’s also beautiful, and a short drive to the ocean.
