What colleges do you think I could get into?

SAT score: 2250 (760 math, 750 writing, 740 critical reading)
SAT II: 720 in Chemistry
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.712 (will be 4.93 if I get all A's next year)

AP classes I have taken: AP Chemsitry & AP Environmental sophomore year and AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, & AP French Language junior year
AP classes I will take seniro year: AP Physics B, AP Statistics, AP French Literature, AP English Literature, and Multivariable Calculus I at a local university

Extracurriculars: I'm not really truly involved in any. I do attend meetings for National Honor Society, French Honor Society, and French Singers, though. I joined the Speech and Debate team this year, and I did Lincoln Douglas debate. I'm the leader for the elementary school tutoring group for NHS, and I volunteer every week at a local elementary school. I'm also going to attend the Governor's School at my state in the field of Natural Sciences.

(Thanks for reading all that junk)

Anyway, I was just wondering which colleges you think I should apply to senior year and which ones you think I have a chance in getting into and which ones I don't.

Thanks =]

Thats a 2250 on the SAT lol, not a 2400
still good, and ur academic stats r great
however, lack of EC's will definitely hurt u a lot. U would probably get into your state college, but unless ur amazing at something or a URM chances for ivys r slim

UMich and Emory

Haha, my bad. I have no clue where the 2400 came from.

I don't "lack" extracurriculars. I'm just not like the president or officer to any. I'm thinking of running for maybe secretery of NHS next year? I don't know. But I did create the Elementary School Tutoring Group for NHS, and I plan on doing some volunteer lab work in cancer research next year at UNC.

I'm not amazing at science, but I'm truly interested in it. Unfortunately, I'm not in the Science Club or Science Olympiad or whatnot b/c I'm terrified of timed competitions.

As for state schools, UNC and NCState are going to be my safety schools. I think Duke may be a good match or maybe even a safety school. At my school, pretty much every asian who applies to NCState/UNC/Duke gets in.

Anyway, thanks for responding so quickly =].

"U would probably get into your state college"

I don't think your state college is the best you can hope for by a long shot! Although I think you would definitely be looking at a free ride if you are interested in your state school--definitely something to consider! I'd say your chances at Duke are great, although the way admissions are these last few years, I would hesitate to call any Top 10 school a safety for even the smartest kids. My guess would be that you'd get into Duke, though.

Is there a specific type of college you're looking for? It helps to have some idea of the size you'd like, the location you want, the setting (urban, suburban, rural), certain major options/sports/ECs you'd like to have, etc. I'd say you have a good shot at most colleges in the United States but if you'd like more specific information than that, it would help to know some of your college preferences. If you post them, I'll be sure to get back to you!

sry u lose :(

Oh yeah, and my rank is 7 out of 500 or 600 something. And I'm a Japanese female.

Stanford (I'm guessing pretty reach. But the campus was pretty, especially the gates.)
UCLA
UCBerkeley (The campus was pretty scary, with lots of hobos.)
Vanderbilt
UNC (I live in right next to UNC. I don't especially want to stay here.)
UChicago
Princeton (Very reach? My sister went to a very prestigious paid summer internship there to study Golgi Apparatuses, and I liked it. It was decently safe and pretty.)
Amherst
Brown (I've visited. It's pretty decent. I love the 14-story Science Library that's color coded according to the pH scale =])
Columbia
Cornell
Dartmouth
Emory
Duke
NYU
Northwestern
Rice
MIT (I'm guessing very reach but I've visited the campus, and it was absolutely wonderful, and I LOVED it)
Carnegie Mellon
NCState
Davidson
UMichigan at Ann Arbor
Middlebury
UPenn
Swarthmore
UVa
Washington University in St. Louis
Wellesley
Williama and Mary
Williams

I know that's a lot of colleges. I'm trying to cut down, so I won't die writing college apps next year. =] Thanks guys.

Also, could you tell me now I can greatly improve my chances in getting into my reach/very reach schools?

Yup, that's a lot of schools all right... good luck cutting them down! Ratings on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Stanford... HIGH REACH.
UCLA... LIKELY.
UCBerkeley... GOOD FIT.
Vanderbilt... GOOD FIT.
UNC... LIKELY.
UChicago... GOOD FIT.
Princeton... HIGH REACH.
Amherst... SEMI-REACH.
Brown... REACH.
Columbia... REACH.
Cornell... SEMI-REACH.
Dartmouth... SEMI-REACH.
Emory... GOOD FIT.
Duke... REACH.
NYU... LIKELY.
Northwestern... GOOD FIT.
Rice... REACH.
MIT... HIGH REACH.
Carnegie Mellon... GOOD FIT.
NCState... SAFETY.
Davidson... GOOD FIT.
UMichigan at Ann Arbor... GOOD FIT.
Middlebury... GOOD FIT.
UPenn... REACH.
Swarthmore... SEMI-REACH.
UVA... GOOD FIT.
Washington University in St. Louis... SEMI-REACH.
Wellesley... GOOD FIT.
Williama and Mary... LIKELY.
Williams... SEMI-REACH.

With your stats, I'd say your in the range where you've got a very good chance of getting into some of the Ivy League schools (or those of an equivalent caliber). The lack of ECs could hurt you a bit, however, which is why I rated Princeton, Stanford, and MIT "high reaches" and was a bit more conservative in my ratings than your SAT scores would otherwise suggest. Also, for MIT in particular you don't show an overly strong interest in the sciences/math based on your activities which is another reason for why its a high reach. I'd say if you're really interested in MIT, be sure to focus on making clear that you have a strong interest in either the sciences or math because that's really what the school looks for.
