I am very interested in microbiology, and want to go on to medical school after college.

Many schools offer majors in microbiology. When looking for microbiology major programs, be aware that such programs can be in different academic units at different schools. Some schools offer a departmental major in microbiology and others offer it as a specialty track in a biological sciences. Of those that offer it as a departmental major, some locate that department in their college of arts & sciences; others in their medical schools; and, still others, in their ag school. At some schools, the title of the program or department might include microbiology plus another bioscience subfield, such as molecular genetics or cell biology. Since you can complete the pre-med requirements at almost all schools and since you can major in microbiology at many schools, focus on identifying the best schools for you in terms of your admissions, affordability, and fit (size, location, etc.). Narrow these down in terms of advising and other supports for pre-meds. Then narrow down further in terms of the particular major that interests you.
