I’m a sophomore who plays volleyball, and i’m on JV this year. I know i’m making JV next year, and there’s usually one junior on jv every year, but other people usually make fun of those on jv as juniors. i’m thinking of quitting because i don’t want to suffer that humiliation, so i want to know if my two years of high school volleyball would count as an extracurricular, or do extracurriculars have to be done all the way through high school?
it would count, anything done outside of classes is considered as an EC
You can include volleyball for the years you have played it. You can write something like:. JV Volleyball (9 - 10)
If you drop volleyball that is totally fine but I’d recommend you pick up another EC (doesn’t have to be a sport) or a part-time job in its place.
Your first thought should be: Do I enjoy volleyball? Do I want to keep getting better and maybe make varsity senior year?
If you are a junior on JV you may find yourself in a leadership position.
But yes, any productive activity you do outside of school can be an EC. Sports (in or out of school), Working, Clubs, babysitting siblings, church activities, volunteering, etc.
Getting good and playing video games or reading many books would not be considered an EC. They are generally somewhat structured.
