What counts as Extracurricular Activities?

What counts as EC? just anything not in the school curriculum?

Would science fairs be counted as EC even though it was for a class? (it's not officially required but the teacher makes you try to present somthing)

Would summer school courses taken in universities count as EC?

Im talking about stuff that's not obvious ECs. My definition of obvious ECs are like school debate/sports/science&math team etc.

Internships/Volunteer Work/Sports/Summer programs/Involvement in events…alot of stuff falls into the broad catagory-dont sell youself short.

(I think jobs do but im not sure)

If you won an award at the science fair, I’d put that in the award section rather than the EC section.

Summer courses/classes I would put in the section where they ask if you’ve taken classes at another school.

jkaplan1212, jobs definitely qualify as well. Unless the Duke admissions guy was lying to me when he was at my school.

Alright cool, I actually was wondering that for my Apps, I held two jobs at once to pay for a summer program at Stanford

well, actually, on the app there’s a separate section for jobs, i believe.

Being involved in groups at your place of worship also count as ECs.

Jobs go in the job section.
