What degree for an MBA...?

I always hear that an undergrad degree in business is pointless if you plan on pursuing an MBA, but what about if you wanted to work as an accountant, banker, or in a field in which an undergrad business degree would help you straight out of college? Or is that school of thought completely wrong? I thought that an MBA was something that one would want to get as they climb the corporate ladder to open doors to management positions (and eventually a higher pay check). What grad degrees should people with undergrad business degrees look at then?

I'll be a freshman this fall pursuing a business degree (I don't declare a concentration until my sophomore year), but I'm planning on marketing with a minor in graphic design; would I be better off majoring in graphic design with a minor in business if I am looking to work in a PR firm or advertising agency? I would ultimately like to pursue a higher degree, although I thought that getting an MBA was the logical choice.
