What did you think about April 2012 ACT?

Hard? Easy? How much time did you have left over? Predicted score? My opinions:

Math: Medium -- 10 minutes left over
Reading: SUPER EASY -- 15 minutes left over
English: Medium -- 10 minutes left over
Science: Hard -- 10 minutes left over
Writing: Pretty easy essay prompt -- finished 5 paragraph essay with 5 minutes left over

Predicted score: 35 - 36

It was pretty challenging. I don’t even recall all the names of the passages for science and reading. -_- English was very easy. IMO… Do you remember the names of the passages for science and reading and any possible answers?

English: Easy/Medium (20 minutes left over to recheck answers)
Math: Easy/Medium (15 minutes left to stress over a couple questions… as usual)
Reading: Easy/Medium (5 minutes left over to recheck a couple questions)
Science: Medium (15 minutes left)

Writing: Easy (wrote three pages in 27-ish minutes)

How do you guys have so much time left over? That is ridiculous!

Math: Had to guess on 3. Hopefully got 1 of them right. Predicting 33/34
English: Easy, had trouble with one or two but narrowed it down to a couple answers each time. 34/35
Reading: Easy, know I got one question wrong though. But, hey one wrong is usually a 36! 35/36
Science: Not bad, everyone else said it was hard though so there will be a huge curve! 33/35

If all goes well I will get a high science score and boost my superscore to a 35.

You guys are dumb I got a 25 and will still be more successful than you.

@pabjumba Especially with that attitude ;)

@pabjumba How do you suppose that?

@pabjumba you are quite a fruit

I got a 28! Not CC standards ( I feel like everyone on here is a super genius) but I’m still happy with that score. I am a pretty average student but I know I can do better, I didn’t finish my essay ( I got an 8) and I know I can bring up my math some.
Congrats to everyone!

My score STILL has not come in…I’m so friggin anxious. A question to those of you who seem to have infinite time: what is the most effective way/quickest to get through the math and science sections? This is only the second time I’ve taken the ACT (got a 31 the first time), but on both it’s gone down to the final minute for the science and math sections. I got 34s on the English and Reading first time around, but the time thing killed me and resulted in a 29 for math and 28 in science. I think I did better this time overall on both sections, but still had to guess on three of the final four for math and rushed through the final science passage. Any tips regarding time and how to be more efficient with it?

@pjbrida What ever works for you. I personally do not bother reading the passages for science, i go right into the questions (I can skim really fast, but got me a 31 on science). For math you either no it or you don’t, I finished with 15 min. I took one practice test and for me the math is recitation of formula’s learned in algebra/geo/trig.

First time this april and got a 33 (34E 34M 33R 31S) no essay yet

@sarcasmrules Yeah, this time around I simply skimmed the science. It definitely helped overall, but I guess I just need to hone in on it a bit more if I elect to take it again. I’m pretty good at math, but I guess I just need to refresh on formulas, mainly from back in geometry days. The pyramid stumped me, and it definitely should not have (didn’t have the time to think over it). What the heck was up with the deductive logic question there at the end? Something along the lines of “The parade will be canceled if it is raining.”

@pjbrida You mean along the lines of “A news reporter says if it is raining then the parade is canceled.” I think the logical answer was If there is a parade then it is not raining. The pyramid was a 30-60-90 triangles problem i think

Yeah, that’s it. I know I got it right, I was just slightly confused as to why it appeared on the math section. Pyramid wise, that’s probably right. I just looked at it, allowed myself to become convinced that it was more difficult than it should be (due to the fact that need to refresh on geometry), and pretty much just went with something.

It sucked…

Pretty easy got a 35 wahoo
