What did YOU write essays about?

I keep having this nightmare where I'm sitting at a desk with a pen in my hand and I'm supposed to write a paper that will either make or break me. I think it's probably because I'm stressed and can't stop thinking about college and what's next. But anyways what type of stuff did you write about?

I don’t feel like recounting all, so just the Common App and the supplement of the school I will be attending in the Fall. My essay was pretty risky, as was “Intended Career: Other - Revolutionary.”

Common App: The plight of the poor and my socialist revolutionary plans.

Notre Dame Supplement:

Essay 1 - The sheer unlikelihood of life and why it should be revered and protected.

Essay 2 - The importance of studying the history of resistance, rebellion, and revolution.

Essay 3 - My reasons for wanting to learn the Irish language, stemming from my Irish Republicanism.

And they say Notre Dame admissions has a conservative bias…

Common app: I wrote about the fact that I’m American on the outside but British at heart.

USC: I wrote about a school project that ended up influencing one of my career goals.

NYU portfolio: I wrote about a song by David Bowie.

I also had to write a statement of intent for nearly every program to which I applied. I was accepted everywhere.

A friend of mine wrote his essays on Pot and his experiences. He is Asian. He was rejected by all Ivies and accepted to Stanford
