I am in 10th grade and have always wanted to go to UF. I am in an accelerated homeschool program where I finish 1 year’s classes in a semester. (50% more than the norm). I was a cheerleader in 9th grade, did chorus and drama, and currently teach piano lessons, tutor, and am an assistant voice coach. Because of my situation right now, extracurriculars and community service is hard. I am taking seven classes this semester and have had all A’s and 2 or 3 B’s so far in high school. I have taken 2 AICE classes and 1 AP class. I have yet to take the AP exam and my SATs and ACT. I want to become a pharmacist. What do I need to do?
Do as many extracurriculars as possible and do well on those tests. You should be fine.
Thank you @ChristonianCoder
I would advise against doing that. You should really find and explore things you are passionate about. Keep your GPA up and try to take a rigorous schedule. Especially senior year because in senior year, they only look at the rigor of your schedule and not your grades. Also, put a lot of effort into your essay and demonstrate a lot of interest with your regional counselor.
Okay… so focus on rigor of schedule and don’t try to fit in a bunch of different extracurriculars? Keep the ones I’m passionate about and focus on the level of my classes? @CaliCash

Keep your GPA high (it’s more important that test scores), keep working on EC’s volunteering and/or working. With EC’s it’s more important that you can show a few EC’s that you had committed to, than just a bunch of clubs. Find something that you would enjoy doing and do it.
Have some fun
Good Luck!
Correct. Dedicate time to the ones you are passionate about and focus on your grades and taking rigorous classes.
Awesome! Thank you @Gator88NE
Great, thank you! @CaliCash
I AM ALSO IN STUDENT COUNCIL AND AM SENIOR EDITOR OF THE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
Those are good, try to stay involved in both until your senior year.
Get involved! Involved! Involved! And have a strong GPA! I have a 4.3 weighted, 3.7 unweighted. I scored a 25 on the ACT (which is extremely low compared to the average at UF), but my resume is 4 pages long filled with volunteering, clubs, awards, and holding positions on student councils. Since most kids in FL strive for Bright Futures Scholarships, which requires 100 hours of community service, UF expects more. Take a good amount of AP/Dual Enrollment/IB classes, be really involved, and have a good GPA and you will be solid.
