What do international students do on their freshman summmer?

Since most academic year has ended for the year, and unless you take summer/spring classes you don't have University housing so, the first summer after you get to college what do people do?

In U.Mich they finish May 2nd so that means 4 months of free time. It would be great to get an internship but it might not be possible durin freshman year so what are the alternatives? Or what do people do? Travel with friends? Go home with the family? Volunteering?

Thanks!

PS: I am an international student

My international friends said they have a hard time finding internships because a lot of them require you to be a US citizen. They mostly just go home for the summer.

Maybe you could go home and find an internship there

Thanks for the input!

Those are great ideas btw.
I am thinking about taking classes in the summer since I won’t be able to transfer much credits for being an international. Trying to get an internship in Spain sounds like a really good idea too!

Thanks :)

Probably just relax lol!

Make a friend and go live in their house. Works every time

All the ones I know go home and party it up before returning to the land of no alcohol under 21.

If you get a job at Cedar Point (not far from U Mich), they have dorms for the workers. A lot of international students work there.
