Does anyone know how to convert a scaled SSAT score into a percentile? The schools we are looking at say that your SSAT should be greater than a certain percentile, but in taking the practice exams we only know how to calculate scores on the 500-800 scale. The SSAT website doesn't give any information as to what score we need to hit a certain percentile. The whole thing seems quite confusing. I've heard the scales are different for boys and girls. Why is it so hard to find this information?

the percentile depends on the test.. because some tests give much harder questions etc. however, i have the princeton review and if you pm me your scaled scores ill convert it using their method. it wont be exact, but you will have a rough idea

No, the percentile does not depend on the test. It is based on everyone who has taken the test in the last 3 (2?) years in the same grade and gender as you.

It is a standardized test but they vary the questions. It is all a matter of OPINION as to if the questions are harder. There are harder questions on the upper level test vs. the lower level test, but then the % are judged against your own grade and gender. As far as I know, all the tests for the same level are deemed to be the same difficulity.

im sorry, i didn't express myself clearly enough. what i mean is it is inevitable that the different tests will challenge people differently each time. also, thank you for correcting me linda s. i made a mistake by saying it was based on the test. what i meant was that the percentile and scaled score relationship will be different for every test.

i have a scale that shows percentages to numbers, if you want to give me your numbers and age/gender i can tell you your score. just send me a pm and i'd be happy to do it! (it shows in the princeton review book thing)
