This may be an obvious question, but what do individual schools see in terms of what other schools a student has applied to? Specifically can all the common app schools see what the applicant is targeting? I assumed that non common app schools are only visible to that particular school?
Well I can tell you that one school that my son was in the process of applying to using the common app called him on his cell phone prior to his submitting the app to see if he had questions. The only thing we could figure is that they could see he’d selected them within the common app. We found it odd. I don’t know if they can see beyond their own school connections.
Yup - DD got an email from Yale sending her an FAQ BEFORE the EA application was due. It said they knew she had started the common app for Yale EA.
We can email students who have our college on their “My Colleges” list. We can not see anything about other schools.
You should also know that the professional organization to which most admission officers belong (it’s called NACAC) has considers it unethical to ask a student (or their counselor) to divulge or rank the colleges on the student’s list.
Can AO see information beyond contact info if a college is in your My Colleges on CA but you have not yet submitted the app? For example, can they see your self-reported test scores?
