What makes you happy and how do you try to maintain happiness in your life?

Understanding things makes me happy. usually if i’m upset for more than a couple hours it’s because of someone doing something mean and i don’t understand why or i’m not succeeding at something and i can’t think my way to getting better. usually i can think past it but if not i listen to music, watch movies, or just do something special to chill out

I work out- studies have show similar effects to taking an antidepressant.

Well, actually, I just daydream about better days.

why did these thoughts come back to back

When I said “dog”, I meant…

haha no my dog (beagle puppy <3) was a birthday present from my boyfriend, so yeah lol

that’s cool then

sex, beer, food… The keys to your wildest successes.

I listen to Mary J.Blige—Just Fine…I’m singing and dancing oh boy that makes me feel better.

sleeping or showering usually helps. makes it feel like a new day.

Yup, working out releases some natural anti-depressants throughout the body.

In addition, you have the mental boost from working out, as when you workout you will begin to be in better shape and look better, which will also make you feel better.

I usually take a nice, long walk at a quick pace (doubles as a bit of exercise as well as a mind-clearing hour or so) and listen to really upbeat or inspiring music. Usually, my “lift me up” music is totally fun and completely shameless, like “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga or “Glamorous” by Fergie. Hey, whatever works.

+1 to Alix2012. nice comprehensive list there… i 2nd ALL of them, minus the dog (cuz i don’t have one) and bueller’s movie (cuz i don’t have it).

I fart, what else?

Walk around town, usually.

Whoever said retail therapy is right. I went shopping with some friends this evening and it was enjoyable.
As for exercising, I agree but I wish I had more motivation :/

Take a shower, even if it’s my second shower of the day.
I clean and organise. You have NO idea how calm this keeps me, or how easily it cheers me up. I just pick a spot and GO GO GO GO GO clean until I’m dead tired or I’m done. Which ever comes first. Cleaning and a clean house (I’m still in high school but it will be the same in dorm suites with suite-mates) keeps me sane. I literally CANNOT think straight, like form coherent sentences if my surroundings are a me.
I put on Show tunes and cheesy country songs and belt them out at the top of my lungs, knowing fully well that I cannot sing whatsoever. Or any other song that makes me happy.
If I get REALLY desperate, I pull out the Babysitters Club books and devour them. I still love them at 17, and probably will for forever.
Black and white movies, especially cheesy horror and sci-fi movies are FANTASTIC as well. I’m always up for suggestions for those.

Happy hour margaritas do the trick :)
