College is so boring outside of classes/studying. What do people do all day? If I had my motorcycle at least I could ride around and BS like in the good ol days.....now I'm forced to either hang out in my room or venture onto campus only to discover that people seem to be entertained by the prospect of being with other people. This unfortunately doesn't excite me (believe me I wish it did). I wouldn't know where to go looking for a party even if I wanted to go to one. I have gone to numerous club meetings but the people are either weird or generic. I meet decent people all the time but never see them again until 1 or 2 months later (of course one of us is on our way to class). Now that it is cold enjoying the city is starting to become intolerable. Thus I am left with nothing to do and I think I am going insane. I should probably transfer.....wonder how hard that is. In any case what do you people do in your free time? I love the academics here but everything else stinks to all hell - in fact everytime I see someone happy I find myself wishing misfortune upon them.

Find a new hobby, enjoy the outdoors, find a group of friends and just hang out and watch movies or something, get a job, take advantage of free activities on campus, etc

Honestly, between classes, homework, my job, club meetings, and group projects I don't have that much free time. I may spend an hour of the day online reading the news, CC, e-mail, etc. Maybe an hour on a good day watching TV, eatting dinner, etc, with my roommates. Most is spent with school.

What year are you? You'll likely getting busier as the years go on in college, depending on your major. There are also times of the semester that are more boring than others around here.

perhaps I will get a job...I have applied to numerous positions (mostly on campus; I'm talking over 20) and the one reply was from a place too far. I'll restart that search though. (I'm a year 1)

are you good at math/science? if so, talk to your teacher as they always have kids who have troubles, and you could offer to tutor...believe it or not, teaching someone something will instantly connect you, and you guys might find somethin g in common and it'll broaden your social "circle", and you might find people who you really want to hang around with...i taught a kid in our math emporium (where we take online math courses) L'hopital's rule in calculus one night and he and i just happened to know the same people (he roomed last year with a kid from my high school) and now we hang out a ton!

ive found that my studies require a ton of studying time, and frankly, i sometimes wish i had more of a social life...however, find an equal balance, and take time to yourself every once in awhile too

Um, sleep. Duh.

i second that. you can never get too much sleep. i can't resist a 3 hour nap.

I too had TONS of free time freshman year. I was working, spending more time with friends than in high school, etc. It will probably get worse...

On another note, sleep and working are always good. What about Intermural sports or something?

Why don't you have your motorcycle? If the area (weather) permits, you should find a way to get it. I can't stand not being able to ride all the time anymore (sold my bike a few months ago)

How big of a school do you go to, that you never see the same people?

Anyway, just sit down and talk to someone in one of your classes, or in the cafeteria. You have met some friends this semester, haven't you? Just play games or watch movies with them or something. You could even organize a game night. And I'm sure you'll find clubs that fit your interest, especially if you're on a large campus. Just don't be afraid to randomly talk to people.

Oh, and if you're really bored, take up crocheting. Even guys like it, I promise. And it's a great thing to do if you're bored. I recommend the Maran illustrated knitting and crocheting book, which you can get at Borders, and then all you need is a crochet needle and some plain yarn. You can sit in front of a tv for hours and crochet, and the time will fly by. Plus in the end, you'll get the feeling of accomplishment that comes with making something useful for yourself. I recommend a scarf for your first project. Good luck!

How about spend all of your time studying in a quiet place?

haha that's a great idea! yeah!

thanks for the posts

and i just never thought of bringing an automobile....I would like a bike or a car here as it would make getting around easier - but parking for cars is a real b*tch in pittsburgh (especially here) and it is cold most of the time so my bike wouldn't be worth it

*scratches head...
i don't go to college yet, but ive been around so many -
seems the consensus is to party and (well, yea...) after all the studying is done...

two words: drink, party

Yeah I felt as though I had too much time this semester. Next semester will be a LOT busier: more club involvement/rush/leadership program/more class hours/job :)
