I'm a senior in high school and will be applying to colleges in a few months. I was wondering what you all thought about Loyola U Chicago.

List the things you like and dislike about Loyola Chicago.

I look forward to seeing all of your opinions.

I go there. Graduating this fall.

It depends what you want really.

Do you enjoy going out to bars, clubs, comedy clubs, etc? This is largely what your social life at loyola is.

Or would you prefer to have a social life on campus? This is what your social life at a non-urban school would be.

personally, I didn't particularly like Loyola. There is no sense of community on campus--very little stuff goes on during the weekends, you have to go out into the city and spend money, which isn't a bad thing if thats your cup of tea.

I feel I've gotten a good education, but I wouldn't go to an urban school if I could do it all over again. its not really the same special college experience you'd get at a place like U of Illinois. Its kinda depressing actually.

I'd recommend that you visit whatever schools you're thinking about and decide after that, if possible.

Best of luck my friend.

I should also tell you that Loyola is in Rogers Park, NOT downtown. Rogers Park is a crappy neighborhood, its very unsafe at night in my experience. At one point I was getting more than one email a week about kids getting beat up and robbed while walking back at night.

I'm not trying to scare you, but you should fully understand this if you want to come to Loyola.

However, there is a new dorm right smack in the middle of downtown Chicago, across from the school of business. If you can get in that, it could be pretty cool. I would look into that and try to avoid Rogers Park because that place is just a piece of shiiiiit.

I went to Loyola Chicago, but I like urban living. It made for great job recruiting. The Catholic atmosphere was also rewarding although not overbearing.
