I just want to see if there are anything I missed researching about this school.
Are their sciences good overrall? (i know stonybrook is better for science, but would a science degree from bing still be respectable?)

The science programs are really good here. I mean you really can’t go wrong with any major here as it is a well-known university. I know that there is a lot of research going on done by professors that is getting really good recognition. One of my psych professors, Professor Chris Bishop, got a grant from The National Institute of Health for $1.3million to continue his work on parkinson’s disease. There is always opportunities for students to work in these labs and get first hand experience on working in certain fields of research. One of my close friends is a biochem major and she has been working in a DNA lab for a couple semesters now and she loves the experience.

BingAmassador, that is totally great news. like aznclamgrl91, i’m also interested in bing’s science programs but got into stony brook as well, so it’s been a real dillemma for me. i’ve been to stony brook’s campus and to be honest, it felt really… deserted. i also heard that since sb has such great grad schools (med/dental, etc.) it was harder for undergrads to receive attention when it comes to working in labs… how is bing compared to this?

do you have any friends who graduated from bing after studying science and got into med/dental school?

also, i haven’t been to bingahamton’s campus so i dont really know what the overall vibe is like over there… does it have more of a campus-y feeling? i did hear that because of the nature preserve, it is really beautiful.

also, do you think it will be worth choosing stony brook just because its science programs are prestigious or is bing’s as equally as competitive?

“do you have any friends who graduated from bing after studying science and got into med/dental school?”…

graduated many, many years ago, but just about everyone I knew studied science and attended med and dental school (including my darling husband…)

Yeah…I Do know a lot of people who are or have gone through the undergrad program and have gotten into med school or dental school. In terms of the campus I like to say that it is big enough of a campus that there is a lot to do and that you probably aren’t likely to bump into too many people you know all the time but it is small enough that you aren’t a number when it comes to classes. I personally like the campus and since the majority of students live on campus there is a lot to do both during the week and the weekends. I may sound bias but I think that Binghamton is better than Stony Brook. I mean in terms of rank, Binghamton is the best of the SUNY Universities. It is definitely up there with SB but it is higher on the lis.
