what makes u love penn?

It's awesome...

Rephrased title: please write my 'why Penn' essay for me

I love the bagels of Penn. Not to be confused with ilovebagels, who apparently shares my sentiments.

I love calling it "Penn"

ducks

BUT GOLLYGEE IT'S UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
I MEAN UPENN
I MEAN... OMGOSMGDKLSAJGKLDSJKL HOWDAREYOU

(funniest thread ever)

No but seriously the OP posted this on like 10 different college's threads. Unfortunately, vassar, NU, WUSTL and some other were his top 4 choices according to another thread, and penn was not in there. So what do YOU love about Penn mr. OP?

I don't know whether people from UPenn (Ok fine cross it out, PENN) are being funny or sarcastic. The OP simply wants to know why people at PENN love the school. I don't get why some students are being so sardonic. (just plainly sad)

Although I am not a current student, I'll tell you my experience during my trip to PENN. I went during summer vacation last year actually, and the tour guide (a current PENN student) contains immense amount of enthusiasm. She was being frank about what she loved about the university, especially the atmosphere. (However, now I look at this forum, I question her authenticity, unfortunately.) She gave detailed explanation and delineation of each historical building, and soon enough, her zeal spread to the crowd.

After the tour, her enthusiasm still left a deep impression in my mind. That again, sadly, is gradually changing now.

I am comparing Penn and Cornell right now due to my curiosity in the field of molecular biology. Both schools satisfy my drive for knowledge in the field of business as well. Nonetheless, the enthusiasm just isn't there for Penn (this is an online forum maybe that's why.) But in comparison to the same thread on Cornell's forum... (innuendo, name calling, sarcasm are just prevalent on Penn's forum)

But I'll decide by myself after I visit it again next month.

shifu yoda- if you haven't noticed by now, the regular posters/advice-givers on this board are extraordinarily sarcastic and cynical, perhaps more so than the students on other colleges' boards. to be fair, my sense of humor is along the same lines, but even if you do not necessarily appreciate their occasionally caustic remarks, i still think they show the same enthusiasm about penn as your tour guide did. just in a different way. to be on collegeconfidential post-admissions-process, trying to share honest information about their school: this is still evidence of enthusiasm. never do you see them irrationally bash the school.

and if you're still a little taken aback, remember that you shouldn't let the behavior of a dozen online posters make your decision. :-)

god I love sarcasm..lol

I still love bagels.

You'll never love bagels as much as I do. And you'll never miss them as much as I do, as I'm in India and they seem to be about as easy to find as a cheeseburger.

Master Yoda (shifu being chinese for master---NINJA TRANSLATE), I think it is very much possible to be as cynical as balls (presuming balls are cynical) while still loving Penn, and loving it hard.

I am a (self-proclaimed) leading proponent of both sarcasm and Penn-love.

The OP could do a search because a thread like this pops up every 6 months. Another great place is to look at Penn vs X threads on the forum to see what we have to say about Penn vs other schools and what posters here did to try and convince people to come to Penn.

The majority of posters in the Penn forum are 18-21 year old males. What more could you expect?

There is a lot of stuff I like about Penn. Not all of it matters to you probably. I like that I'm in a city and I can go downtown whenever I feel like iit. I like that there is a defined campus and a strong campus life so I don't need to go into the city if I don't want to. I like how there are places like Allegro's and Wawa so I can get food late at night. I like how even though I didn't like the cafeterias, meals did not reset every week (like the do at Cornell). Rather than having 14 meals a week that are gone when the week ends, you can have 125 or so meals a semester which expire at the end of the term. I like how people here are funloving yet at the same time they care about academics. I like how there is a slight preprofessional lean because it would feel strage to be at a college where people weren't thinking about their futures at all. I like how it's 3 hours from home (for me anyway). I like Spring Fling. I like the fact that I had my first Spanish class that I didn't hate. I like Locust Walk. I like food trucks. I like how there are frat houses across from College Hall and Huntsman. And most importantly, I like bagles.

I'm looking forward to this. I actually want to learn Spanish, but my teachers were so awful I never had any passion. Hopefully this will all change come September.

As for why do I love Penn:

Really this is personal stuff and it's not like you can just take it and make it your own. If that's what you're trying to accomplish in order to write your "Why Penn" essay, trust me it won't work. If you're not enthusiastic about what you're writing, and instead just compiling a laundry list all the responses from CC it will come across as unoriginal and you will fail miserably.

Personally, I love being in the city. There's always something to do and it's difficult to get bored. The Vagelos Program MLS and research opportunities were pretty much the deciding factor for me.

Thankfully, I have the next four years to find out what REALLY makes Penn special and find things I never knew existed!

I enjoy Penn because our sardonic CollegeConfidential message board personalities help us to keep out the undesirables.

Who are you NickBarr?

The Spin Nick Barr ?

Where do you get your bagels legend?

I am a bagel vacuum. I get bagels wherever they exist.
