what do you need to get 700+ writing

hi guys
i got about 8 wrong on the MC for SATII writing practice... what essay score do i need to get 700+?
is the kaplan test book even accurate... i've heard of people getting 10s on the essay -4 on MC and getting an 800.... on the Kaplan test book this would equate to a muchlower score (about 740) according to teh chart on the back of their book

to get an 800 on the kaplan book you must get a 12 essay and -1 on the MC ??? is the curve really that bad on the actual test

seriously kaplan is horrible conversion chart...i took my previous score ont he real exam (610) and it converted to a 520 in kaplan. i've heard of people getting 8s and getting an 800 so yeah. kaplan is baaaaad conversion...but 8 wrong on the MC will get you:
8 on essay=670
9=700
10=730
11=760
12=790 (one MC from 800)

wow that is really sweet.......

and that's from the SAT II Reals, and they are off by about 50 points. so write a 10 and you got a 770+ almost for sure. I missed 21 MC and got an 8 for a 610. The curve is lax, very lax.

On the five Kaplan tests in their 2004-2005 book I got 11, 9, 10, 11, and 11 wrong respectively. So it IS possible for me to get an 800 on the test with a great essay, right?

yeah kaplans conversion is crap...add about a 100 to ur score for 620 and below, add about 70-80 for 630 to 680, add about 40 or whatever seems right after that

what i said is off a little bit...but know you need to add to your score from the kaplan chart. the higher your score the less you add, but I know you add at least 50-70

80 mult choice + 6 writing = 690
79 mult choice + 9 writing = 740

are those on the real SATII standardized test? and how many MC did you get right...u gaver your subscore...im assuming you missed 0 on the first one and 1 on the second one.

yea those are actual scores. im not sure exactly how many i got wrong, but it had to be around 3-4. the sat IIs offer more leeway for 800s than the SAT I. one wrong on the SAT I's something like 80 math question bumps you down to a 780

If I remember correctly, on the first Writing test I took, I missed at least 10 MC, scored a 9 on the essay, and got a 710. The curve is really generous; on the other Writing test, I couldn't have scored more than an 8 on the essay (it was horrible), but I got an 800.

I got an 800, but the 11 helped w/ the essay. Basically, practicing is about all you can do. I recommend Princeton Review.

wow thats sweet for 700. I omitted 6 on the writing test and i think i got a 10 essay - so that means that i did uber well on the MC, and i got like 20 wrong on practice. nice - cant wait to get my mailed score soon to see my essay and mc subscore

I took the Princeton Review writing class. Broke 700 on one practice test, and ended up with a 760 on the actual test. ;) There's really not that much to do - as long as you know what errors to look for in the multiple choice and write a decent essay, you can break 700.
