What do you tell ADcoms when they ask what you want to do with your MBA?

Do you tell them that you want to go build orphanages in Bangalore even though you intend to do nothing but shmooze investment bankers once you're accepted?

Or do you play it straight and just say honestly that you want an MBA just so you can move into the investment banking field?

I understand that it is important to have a good story as to your work experience when applying to top B-schools, but what about the future aspect of that story. Do your future goals have to be equally mesmerizing or can you state them honestly?

they have to be logical, realistic, and practical. for most, that would mean either #1) using MBA for rapid advancement in your prior industry) or #2) a career switch into a field where such a switch is feasible and done quite often.

i-banking is tough to break in w/o finance experience, so even if that is your goal post-mba, i would shy away from it in your app. stick to either your current industry or a more feasible switch into a field like marketing or consulting
