Does it seem like a legitimate sport in the eyes of adcoms?
I'm on my school's varsity drill team. We've taken 3A State championships for Pom and 2nd place for Military. (last year, we got 1st for both)
2013 WIAA 2B/1A/2A/3A Dance & Drill- Rounds 10-11, Drill Down and Awards (Event): Washington: PlayOn! Sports <--- we're at 11 minutes for pom and 23 minutes for military. theme was Memoirs of a Geisha.

While we have won a number of awards these past few years, some people tend to think that drill isn't a real sport because it's better as a performing art, and we're "more or less glorified strippers", to quote a certain someone.

This image may interest you, although it regards marching band.

The picture defines a sport as “an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively”

In my opinion, it doesn’t matter if cheer/drill is a sport. It is still counted as an extracurricular in the eyes of adcoms. Actually, there may even be an advantage because drill is a much more unique EC then football.

Oh, the four * are supposed to be the F bomb, but CC doesn’t allow it.

I think that as long as you enjoy the activity it shouldn’t matter. If you show leadership and commitment you’ll be fine!
