What do you think about my PSAT score?

This is my first post :)

I took my PSAT and my selection index was 154 (65 percentile).

I'm really want to go to CSU Long Beach or ASU.

How much better do you think I should do?

My GPA is like a 2.5

For the record, when I took the PSAT I wasn't aware of the time strain or the point deductions.

Thanks for your help!

P.S. I recently took the Pre- ACT so I chould be getting that soon as well. I think I did considerably better.

I am assuming tht you are a California resident.

CSU Long Beach is one of the most selective CSUs. Based on your PSAT score your likely SAT score will be somewere in the range of 1500-1800. With practice over the next 6-10 months you may be able to improve your score by an additional 100-200 points. That would help compensate for your relatively low GPA.

Still since your GPA is significantly below 3.0 your chances at Long Beach are not good. See Naviance (if your school provides you access) or a (less accurate) data set such as:

Work hard this year with a focus on grades. If you can bring up your gpa for a-g subjects to near 3.0 your chances will improve much more so than if you were to bring up your SAT scores by 100-200 points.

I don’t have enough knowledge regarding ASU to comment on your chances there. Perhaps your high school counselor can help.
