What do you think my Dartmouth chances are?

Hello all, I was just wondering what you think my chances are:

SATI: 1330 (650V, 680 M) just retook on Nov. 6, thinking 1400-1450
ACT: 30

Applied ED

Have Only taken 2 APs
World Hist
Us Hist: scored a 4

and taking AP Bio Exam come the end of Senior year.

I also had a stellar interview, on campus, and have another local interview scheduled- a Dartmouth Alum called me up and asked for an interview, so I said yes.

SATII:
Writing 630
Chem 680
US His 660

Challenging Course load, taking two courses offered from Communnity college (College Economics: 94 avg so far; and College Government- next semester) and a Writing course offered at our school by Syracuse University.

Recently had wisdom teeth out, so expecting my future grades to be 50% lower (heh, just a little joke, grades will remain strong :-P).

Ranked: 37/468 at a public school
Weighted GPA: 94.39 = 3.94? and improving!

Grades show tremendous improvement, went from 89-93 overall averages in 9th and 10th grades to 95- 98.2 overall averages Junior year (with a challenging course load, mind you)- I started putting a lot more effort into my studies (hopefully that won't hurt me).

Perfect Score on Math BII (it's a New York thing) regents exam
Scored a 97/100 on English Language Arts NYS Exam

Oh, and P.S. "Grades show tremendous improvement, went from 89-93 overall averages in 9th and 10th grades to 95- 98.2 overall averages Junior year (with a challenging course load, mind you)- I started putting a lot more effort into my studies (hopefully that won't hurt me)."

Those averages are unweighted

P.P.S 34 on English ACT section...don't know what happened on my Writing SATII...well except that I kept second guessing my essay and kept erasing and rewriting :-x.

If you bring your scores up a little, trim down your ECs to focus on the things you're passionate about and had strong participation in, get great recs and write a killer essay, there's no reason why you shouldn't be in the running. How many APs did your school offer? It'll look kind of bad if they offer a lot and you only took two, but if they only offer two or three then you're fine. As for your ECs--well, you're an athletic Christian singer who has a leadership position in student council. That's awesome, but make sure your personality comes across clearly in your essay so that colleges will understand why all these different things appealled to you.

Oh, wait, you applied ED...so ignore my suggestions. Best of luck!

Thanks, I do appreciate your comments a lot though :-). My Essay was about a person who influenced me and I feel that it was really good. My school only offers AP Physics (and you basically have to take physics first in order to take AP in my school), AP US, AP World, AP Bio (which I'm not taking, rather I'm taking an Honors Anatomy&Physiology/Genetics course), and AP computer programming (or something like that). Thanks again for your advice!

Do you think my large amt. of ECs will hurt me by not being completely focused on a few areas?

any comments would be greatly appreciated :-).

I'm sure having a lot of ECs won't hurt you that much, colleges just sometimes prefer to see some kind of link between the different activities. Don't worry about it, a lot of people got in with very diverse extra curriculars. I'm glad you feel good about your essay, because the essay can go a long way. Hope you get in!

I think it might, its better to show focus than a laundry list w/o leadership...good luck on the SAT. That could be the clincher either way...

do you think it helps your chances of getting in if you have a sibling that is a current undergraduate?

SAT scores went up 90 (1420 680M 740V), yay :-) :-P

Formally, no. It can't hurt though. If the adcoms see they admitted a sibling a couple years ago, they'll feel less uncomfortable accepting a borderline case.

Thanks guys (and gals, lol) for all of your suggestions and help :-).

uh...what essays are there for dartmouth besides the common app?...im worried now, cuz my app is in, but i only did the 5 words to describe yourself, and the common app essay...

thier only requirement is the common app and the peer recommendation

wow....how did you improve 90 pts on verbal...if i did that, id be at a 1430...that would be craaaazy...and good...

lol thanks :-)... I actually thoguht verbal woudl be about the same and that math would shoot up...but it happened the other way around.
