I am planning my schedule for next year. I will be physics major. This is what I came up with:
Differential Equations 4 credits
College writing 4
Honors physics+lab 4+1
Astronomy 142 3
(from the big bang to the milky way)
Is this a reasonable schedule? How much hours do you think I will have to spend studying a week?

Is that Honors Physics 160 or 260? I haven’t taken either but I hear 260 is extremely difficult and takes a huge amount of time. I haven’t heard much about 160 which probably means it’s not too bad.

It’s hard to estimate a number of hours for someone else’s schedule. If you’re schedule is something like Math 216, English 125, Astro 142, & Physics 160 it’ll slightly harder than most take their first semester but if you keep up with things it should be okay. If you’re looking at Math 316 and/or Physics 260 instead it’ll a lot harder.

I am going with regular physics (240). I really don’t see the point in introducing computer modeling/programming in a freshman physics course. The main focus should be on understanding the concepts and building solid problem-solving skills for future courses. No? Maybe MLD can shed some light since he just finished taking 240.

I got friends in Physics 240 and they say it’s a pretty difficult class. I’m taking that class this summer at a CC just to get it out of the way so I can take more important courses next semester. 140/160 are fine though, it’s a lot of the stuff you do in high school.
