What do you think?

Alright, I'm looking to apply to:

George Washington U. - ED
BU - RD
BC - EA
Wake Forest - RD
American U. - RD
Tufts? - RD

I just took the new SAT and ACT w/ Writing for the first time, no practice, nothing.

SAT:
1910
710 CR
600 M
600 W (9/12 Essay)

ACT:
30 Composite
26 English
28 Math
29 Science
35 Reading

Now, I know that my ACT's are a bit higher than my SAT's, and I submitted both, but would only take the ACT again since it replaces both the SAT's AND the SAT II's at all the schools I'm applying to EXCEPT Wake, but, I'm not too worried about Wake, as BC and GW are my top school's. So, my question, should I retake the ACT in the fall?

Rest of my stats:

I'm a rising Senior....just got done with Junior year

Stats:

GPA: ~3.5 unweighted, ~4.0 weighted, these will hopefully be a bit higher by the end of first semester Senior year.
PSAT: 130 on Math and Verbal overall, 66 on verbal, 64 on math (This was kind of rushed though, only taken for AP Lang as an assignment)
ACT: Take this saturday...
SAT: Took yesterday...

Classes this year:
AP Psychology (A's)
AP US History (A's)
AP English Language & Comp. (A's)
Precalculus Honors (C's and B's)
Physics Honors (A's and B's)
Debate VI Honors (A's)
Government Honors (A's)

Note:
Brought Physics from a "B" to an "A" from 1st to 2nd semester, and brought Precalc from a "C" to a "B" from 1st to 2nd semester, so, rising GPA...

Extra-Curric:

Debate Team (~325 NFL Points...for those who know what those are), this is my passion, I've competed in 5 different event categories as well, and placed in 3 of them (Student Congres, Oral Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Public Forum, Policy)
President of Debate
VP of Law Club
Mock Trial Team
Social Studies Honor Society
JETS

Community Service: Look to be a Counselor at local summer camp, should get ~100 Hours
Work: Public Library (20 Hours/Week)

Background: Single-Parent Home, Dad pays no child support, etc. Roman Catholic, Irish-Italian, Public School in Florida

Looking to major: Poli. Sci., Government, Political Media
Minor: Journalism/Psych

Courses for Senior year:
AP Euro
AP US Gov
AP Microeconomics
Independent Study (AP World History)
AP Lit
AP Stats
Debate VIII Honors

What do you guys think, what are my chances at those schools with those stats?

Do you guys have any opinions on my chances?

So, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Ben

does spokesperson for a major alcoholic beverage company count as an Ec?

^ I suppose, anyway, anybody have an idea of my chances?

Everyone must be asleep by this time I guess, hehe.

Alright guys, someone must be up, this is my last BUMP of the night, lol.

I appreciate any and all opinions.

~Ben

Consider it a free bump? :)

GWU-Match, but be wary of GWU if you need fin. aid, your scores aren't high enough that you would get a substantial amount + GWU is around 50k a year.
BC, Wake, and Tufts are pretty similar their probably a slight reach.
AU is a great school for a safety.
Get your SAT's up into the mid 13's and you'll probably get in any of these!

what is BC? (Boston College =S)
anyway, you are fine! you'll get in to most of them.

Willmington, thank you, I know, it will be a lot of loans, lol. As for getting my SAT's up, I'm planning on just using my ACT's (30) and possibly retaking those to get a 31-33. Thanks to both of you!

Any other ideas?

~Ben

If you get'em up try Georgetown its probably a better school than GWU and its cheaper. :)

Yeah, but I really don't think I can get into G-Town, even though I have a legacy (Uncle and Grandfather), because of the super low acceptance rate (22%) , but I did just look and find that they accept the ACT's. I know GW is expensive, but I like their programs, and if I can get into their 5-year MA/BA program, then it won't be so bad. Thanks though, I appreciate it.

Any other opinions?

Anybody have another idea?

George Washington U - match
BU - match/safety
BC - low reach
Wake Forest - match
American U - safety
Tufts - low reach

I wouldn't retake the ACT, 30 is a good enough score - it won't break your application. I would be surprised if you didn't get into GW.

^ Good to hear!

Yeah, I want to go to GW or BC the most, and while GW is very expensive, they have a lot of political opportunities that other schools simply cannot have, including a 5-year MA/BA Political Science major, which would save me money in the end.

Thanks again!

Any more ideas?

I would be pretty shocked if you didn't get into GW. I was looking at pr stats because I wasn't too familiar with what they want. You will (or should!) get in. Tufts is a reach and BC kinda is too but do apply. BU is a match/safety. G'luck.

Your ACT score is fine for all of those schools.

^ Thank you!

So, any more opinions, I mean, there seems to be a general consensus; another question though...

Should I apply ED to GW and EA to BC?
